Compatible printer cartridges are those that are not manufactured by the printer's original manufacturer, but rather by an aftermarket manufacturer. The appearance of the ink cartridges itself may differ slightly from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) cartridge, but they will function just as well. It's critical to evaluate both the price and the page yield when purchasing a new printer or printer cartridge. The page yield refers to how many pages a cartridge can print before running out of ink or toner.

Cartridges are frequently available in two yields: normal and high yield. High-yield cartridges print more pages than standard-yield cartridges, and their product names usually include an XL, XXL, JUMBO, or Super High Yield feature.

Ink and toner cartridges come in a variety of sizes, but the number of pages each one can print is not determined by the cartridge size. The XXL cartridge will have the same dimensions as the XL cartridge, but it will be able to print more pages as it is filled with more ink.

Ink cartridges typically have a page yield of up to 1000 pages, while toner cartridges often have a page yield of over 1000 pages. You can use the page yield information on all of our products to help you choose the ideal cartridge for your needs.

Ink-Saving Tips for Canon Printers

Print in draft mode.

When you print in draft mode, your printer will use less ink. This mode is ideal for documents that don't need to be printed in high quality, such as drafts or school assignments.

Print in grayscale.

Canon Printer Troubleshooting Tips for Using Compatible and Remanufactured Ink & Toner

If an error message appears on your Canon printer while printing with a compatible or remanufactured cartridge, press and hold the Cancel/Stop button for 10 seconds. This will force the printing process to complete. This technique can also be used if the printer displays an empty cartridge after you've installed a new compatible or remanufactured cartridge; or if the cartridge cannot be recognized.

Another trouble shooting tip to perform in the event the cartridge isn't recognized is to turn off and unplug the printer for a few minutes. This will reset the printer's memory, allowing it to properly recognize the new compatible or remanufactured cartridge.
